Itch FM – Dedicated to Hip Hop
This should concern you. And, I think you should pay attention to this. Especially if you are violating the following rules..
Rules? What rules?
The rules Youtube enforced on the 19th December 2012.
Still don’t know what I’m on about?
According to Youtube’s TOS (item 4), the 800 pound gorilla will kill any views it detects as being automated.
Over 2 billion (with a “B”) views have been removed from the top three major labels video’s. Tut, tut!
Sony/BMG is reported as being the biggest sufferer, with Youtube dropping more than 850 million of its video views in one day. Bringing it’s total number of views down to 2.3 million.
The day this happened, Youtubers bombarded the Youtube forum and their own channels talking about loosing views and the like. Crying that it must be some technical hitch within the system.
Youtube finally confirmed that it had enforced it’s view count policy and that it wasn’t a bug or a technical hitch.
This isn’t only effecting the big boys. It could happen to you too.
This is my advice: Don’t buy views. Period.
Think about it, if you get a gig, get signed, or whatever because some A and R thinks you’re the next internet star. They’re going to be expecting you to pull in a crowd and sell.
Failing this will not only be embarrassing for all involved, it also could harm your career.
If you are going to do anything to automate view count or pay a service to do so, your best bet is to pay Youtube/Google by using it’s video ads, or pay per view scheme.
The difference between paying Youtube and not some other pay-per-view company is that you’ll be giving your money to Youtube. And they like this.
Also, and very importantly, by avoiding those $5 for 100,000,000,000 views type websites and service people, you’ll stay out of trouble, which ultimately will avoid you getting your video removed.
Of course you could just go the natural route and just optimize your video well, promote the hell out of your video’s via social media, email and your website. But, hey, we like things instantly (I blame X Factor).
