Itch FM – Dedicated to Hip Hop
Nas will be releasing a feature length documentary sometime this year exploring the influences on the process of making the iconic album illmatic.
Illmatic capsulated the social conditions of New York City twenty years ago and depicted the frustration of young black men trying to get their voice heard in America in a social-political context.
The documentary will also focus on his family and the influences his jazz musician father Olu Dara had on him, also the sacrifices his mother and younger brother Jabari ‘Jungle’ Fret, made for him to make it as a Hip Hop star.
To add to our excitement Nas will also be releasing his seminal debut album, Illmatic, which will be released as a special 20th Anniversary Edition, titled Illmatic XX, on April 15th. This exclusive collection will feature several rare remixes, unreleased demos and freestyles to pay tribute to the anniversary.
