Macklemore a.k.a. Ben Haggerty was called up by NYC’s Hot 97 Morning show to talk on his controversial win at the 56th Grammy Awards, where he and Ryan Lewis won four including Best Rap Album for The Heist.
The multiple Grammy winner speaks on the process of the Grammy ballots and, even though his album won, why he feels Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city should of won the Best Rap Album award.
The Heist was also up against Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’ and ‘Nothing Was The Same’ By Drake.

“First and foremost, Kendrick is a friend of mine — I love his music,” confessed Macklemore. “In my opinion he had the Best Rap Album of the year.”
Kendrick was nominated for seven awards but came home empty handed.
Macklemore: Kendrick Lamar should of won a Grammy.
The Seattle rapper also sent, his friend, Kendrick Lamar an apologetic text message after the win last night explaining that he wanted him to win.
Followed by posting the following comment and picture of the text on instagram.
My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that’s taking nothing away from The Heist. Just giving GKMC it’s proper respect.. With that being said, thank you to the fans. You’re the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys
