Itch FM – Dedicated to Hip Hop
Louis VI, whose part of the Othasoul hip hop group releases a solo track entitled “Floatin”, featuring the talented Jelani Blackman.
The track lyrically illustrates the emotional turmoil an individual goes through after a relationship break up. True to Louis musical signature, the track has that Nu Jazz feel about it.
The track goes through the ambivalent feelings Louis VI has about his ex girlfriend in relation to the love he still has for her and the good moments they shared. But simultaneously having very bitter feelings towards her.
Although Louis VI looks relaxed submerged in water in the video, musing about his failed relationship, it could be seen as him wondering when is this emotional pain going to stop and pondering if he can survive without her.
Although Louis has worked in the past with the very talented Mick Jenkins and Nubya Garcia in the past, Jelani Blackman most definitely is the perfect fit for this track. His laid back vocal really complements the track.
The song is taken from his upcoming album entitled Sugar Like Salt, which is due to be released on June 15.
