Kendrick Lamar has urged his young followers to research a little piece of Nelson Mandela’s life and history, following Mandela’s passing.

In 1962, Mandela was arrested and accused of treason and spent 27 years in prison.

At  Mandela’s trail he reportedly gave a speech that lasted at least four hours. The speech procured information about his message and regarding his beliefs.

“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination,” he said at the trial, according to cnn.com. “I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

Once when Mandela was asked on primetime television how he would like to be remembered, the noble citizen of South Africa stated the following:

“I would like to be remembered not as anyone unique or special, but as part of a great team in this country that has struggled for many years, for decades and even centuries,” he said. “The greatest glory of living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall.”
