In this weeks ‘Do You Remember This?’ we go back to the year 2000.
UK Hip Hop was doing big things, the well deserved London Posse won the ‘Best contribution to UK Hip Hop at the UK Hip Hop Awards.
Braintax released ‘Hard Working/Escúchame’ Ep and the mighty Champions Of Nature dropped 3 white labels.
A crew with some of the most talented UK artists around, Champions Of Nature definitely weren’t/aren’t to be slept on.
The group consists of artists: Jehst, Lewis Parker, L. Dolo, A.M, Apollo, Profound and Supa T.
‘The Fuck Off EP’, ‘Finalisation EP’ and ‘Salsa Smurf/Jazzy Styles’ were all funded and put out by themselves.
The next year, 2001, they re-released Salsa Smurf/Jazzy Styles and managed to get wider distribution through the Wordplay label.
This gained the crew more media play and coverage.
I still think to this day that they need more recognition for the music they put out.
These three releases by C.O.N are a big piece of UK Hip Hop History and need to be heard. I can’t imagine the excitement from fans if these guys made one last track…
