American Government Infiltrate The Cuban Hip Hop Scene

Reports from the Huffington Post suggested that the United States of America’s government made an attempt to infiltrate the Cuban Hip Hop scene in order to destabilise the governments standing amongst the Cuban youth.

The unsuccessful campaign ‘s strategy was targeted at youth looking for social change within the Cuban borders. And  the hiring of  contractors from the Washington D.C.-based Creative Associates International  was initiated to work for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

The covert operation compromised the Cuban Hip Hop culture, due to artists within the scene not being aware of the U.S. operation.

This has resulted in Hip Hop groups such as Los Aldeanos not being able to gain work within Cuba and forced to move to South Florida.

As well as infiltrating Hip Hop groups, social media platforms and festivals were created to target and gain the attention of their target audience.

“USAID” stated any assertions that our work is secret or covert are simply false,”
