Jeremy Corbyn has been attracting some big names in the U.K. HipHop & Grime industry since he became the leader of The Labour Party.  This is quite a rare thing to happen as normally British Politics and Rap tend not to make a good mix.

A number of high profile Grime and Hip Hop artists have spoke out recently on their admiration and support of The Labour Leader, including Lowkey, JME, Akala, Stormzy, Rodney P, Micall Parknsun, Stig of the Dump, Genesis Elijah, Si Phili, Potent Whisper, Novar Flip and Novelist.

Last year we saw Grime legend Stormy give an interview with The Guardian mentioning how he felt on the Corbyn subject, he said;

Stormzy on Jeremy Corbyn

My man, Jeremy! Young Jeremy, my guy. I dig what he says. I saw some sick picture of him from back in the day when he was campaigning about anti-apartheid and I thought: yeah, I like your energy.

Have you seen that footage of House of Commons? They’re all neeky dons! The way they all laugh and cheer. Is this fucking Game Of Thrones? You lot have got real issues to talk about and deal with. That’s why I like Jeremy: I feel like he gets what the ethnic minorities are going through and the homeless and the working class.

Boy Better Know co-founder and grime legend JME has also shown his support to the Labour Leader, The pair recently sat down for a coffee in Tottenham to discuss the importance of the youth to register to vote for the General Election 2017 and the future of Britain.

JME explained why he, and many young people, have never voted before but, that all changed when Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the Labour party. Since then, JME has started to encourage people to vote.

Akala is another high profile HipHop rapper who has publicly endorsed Jeremy Corbyn with a number of tweets and facebook posts.

The rapper, poet and activist has come out in support of the Labour leader (even though he’s not strictly pro-Labour or has he voted before).

Akala talks Jeremy Corbyn

The simple fact is, if enough people vote for Corbyn/Labour they will win. In fact there are enough people that did that did not vote at all in the last election to tip the scales decidedly. A Britain led by the SNP and Corbyn’s Labour would be drastically different – though still far from utopian, whatever that means – to what the Tories have in mind and have clearly told us they intend.

The most recent HipHop artist and most convincing yet to intervene in the race for 10 Downing Street in support for Jeremy Corbyn is Lowkey.

Lowkey gave an in-depth interview to Double Down News and didn’t hold back on his views and why he wholeheartedly supports Jeremy.

Tory policies have led us to the stage where you have nurses in the NHS using foodbanks. But when you have somebody coming forward saying he will raise the wages of nurses, saying he will abolish tuition fees, he will raise the minimum wage, build one million homes, half of them social housing: this is significant, and this is significant to everyone.

Previously, the idea had been that these people are not speaking to us, about us or for us. Jeremy Corbyn is a clear exception to that rule.
