The Itch team has had the pleasure of blogging about the Gary, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs on several occasions and were shocked to hear that a man in a black hooded top attempted to kill the rapper on a very busy New York City street.
Gibbs and his entourage were shot at several times while sitting in their SUV truck after their performance at the well known Rough Trade Records store in Brooklyn.
Gibbs managed to avoid injury by running back into Rough Trade, but his fellow DJ, DJ Izzo and another fellow crew member sustained minor injuries and our both reported to be in stable condition in hospital.
Surveillance cameras revealed that the man in the black hooded top dressed up to blend in with the rapper’s entourage and was seen walking around with them, and even at one point standing right next to Gibbs.
Freddie stated to investigators that he is in no way connected to the man, as has never seen the assailant before. The assailant is still at large.
