Itch FM – Dedicated to Hip Hop
Angie Martinez departed ways with Hot97 to bitter rivals Power 105.1 after being on the station for over 15 years. This is a big coup for Power 105.1, and will surely leave Hot97 deflated.
The switch was said to be surprising and very quick. Radio personality Angie Martinez resigned from Hot 97 and signed with rival Power 105.1 in less than 24 hours later.
The heated rivalry between the stations has at times boiled over into on-air verbal warfare, especially with morning shows and Hot 97 evening host Funkmaster Flex. Angie is known more for helping to resolve disputes than joining them.
Angie stated “Today I resigned from HOT97,” she posted. “I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever.”
Angie is known to have strong relationships with many of the top figures in the industry, and she is known for the major names she has interviewed, from Tupac Shakur, Jay Z and Kanye West to Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
