Itch FM – Dedicated to Hip Hop
Ty is one of the pioneering hip hop artists in the UK.
He is know all over the world for his clever and thought provoking lyrics.
Not just your run of the mill rapper, Ty also produces his own music. So, yes this dude is most talented (go check out his past album credits).
On a bitterly cold February evening Shante and the team traveled to the southern regions of London (Vauxhall, to be exact) to collar Ty, on his stool, under a bridge.
Usually, we deliver these video interviews to you in nice 10 minute bite-size chunks. However, every now and then the Itch FM video editor just can’t bring himself to chop up a good interview.
This happened with the Chester P interview. That was 20 minutes long, and people loved it.
The interview below is a little longer. And for good reason too…
You see, Ty has been in da game for a loooonnng time. And he has seen the morphing of the British hip hop scene, be it bad or good.
Needless to say, Ty has an opinion or two about how he likes to make music, what hip hop means (for him), and how he sees the whole movement (if that is what you’d want to call it).
In this 27 minute interview (what? 27 minutes? I haven’t got that much of an attention span!), Shante not only exposes him on his early dancing days (when you hear this part, you’ll wet yourself when you discover what Ty was known for), but, Shante taps into Ty’s brains, which makes him unleash his feelings and thoughts about hip hop in the UK and world wide.
Don’t get scared now, as he has a lot of wise words to pass onto you young bucks that say you’re mc’s.
That aside, this interview had the team laughing their frozen socks off!
