One of the many perks of writing for Itch FM, is the time to surf the inter-webs (for research purposes, of course) discovering, introducing or reminding you of all the talented hip hop artist that are in the world.
We don’t always stumble across talent, from time to time we get sent an email from an artist management team alerting us to an artist and what they have going on at the moment.
The artist that I’ll get to in a moment, happened to land in our inbox yesterday (18th November 2013) and instead of just hitting the delete button, I thought I should at least give it a quick 30 second listen.
I’m glad I did, as I would never have came to be introduced to Cleveland, Ohio born, Jacksonville resident Chox Mak.
Chox Mak has been involved with Hip Hop since a very young age starting in Okinawa, Japan where Chox fell in love with the art of hip hop winning countless dance contests then moving back to the states he wrote his first rhymes in 1991. Through the years, and countless name changes, Chox Mak honed his skills and in 2010 released his first mixtape. Chox has since been on over 30 mixtapes in the past 2 years, has over 3,000 downloads and over 10,000 plays on his music online. Chox has also had his music played on many internet radio stations and had an interview on one the biggest hip hop radio stations in Eastern North Carolina Coast 97.3 and also opened up for La Da Boom Man, Immortal Technique, Styles P, Curren$y, Fiend, Young Roddy,Trade Mark and Skinny Deville and Fishscales of Nappy Roots to name a few.
